Restoring Stability: New Pressure Vessels for One of London’s Tallest Buildings

New Pressure Vessels for One of London's Tallest Buildings

The Challenge

One of London’s top five tallest buildings experienced a failure in the bladder of one of its two pressure vessels, requiring immediate attention. The failed bladder caused excessive pressure fluctuations, triggering the system’s automatic safety cut-outs.

The Solution

Dura Pump engineers promptly attended the site to address the issue. We removed and replaced the failed pressure vessel, which also required a new drain point. Recognising that the remaining pressure vessel was of the same age and at risk of failure, we replaced it as well. We installed two new Flamco vessels, complete with tee and drain cocks, reset all pressures, and conducted a comprehensive system test before leaving the site.

Outcome

We delivered a fully functional system that allows for easy future maintenance. The work was carried out with minimal disruption to the building’s operations, ensuring that the tourist attraction remained unaffected.

Key Points

  • Future Maintenance: The new setup facilitates easy future maintenance.
  • Minimal Disruption: Work was completed with minimal impact on this busy tourist attraction.
  • Operational Capacity: Installed two new 800-liter capacity vessels, now in full working order.
