On one of our contracted maintenance visits to a university client, we found that one of the pressurisation units was not working correctly. The unit – a Pullen pressurisation unit – was at the end of its working life, which meant it was uneconomical to repair. The Pullen unit was also no longer operational.
Dura Pump’s estimating team specified a Mikrofill 3 unit to replace the existing Pullen wall-mounted unit. The Mikrofill 3 is a wall-mounted unit that doesn’t use a pump but is connected directly to the university building’s water supply to fill the system. It prevents backflow, ensuring a compliant and safe filling route to the heating system.
Our engineers attended the site, removed the old unit, installed the new Mikrofill 3 pressurisation unit, modified the pipework to suit the new unit and made good all the electrical connections. The old unit was then returned to Dura Pump to be recycled.
The client benefited from an upgraded unit that fully protects their heating system. Due to our regular maintenance contract, the failing of one of the university’s pressurisation units was picked up before it failed entirely, stopping our client losing pressure in their system and heating to their building.
