Dura Pump was contacted by a return customer: a major facilities management company with responsibility for a large science museum based in central London. This issue involved a twin booster set and jockey pump. One of the pumps was a fixed speed model: outdated and faulty with age. These two factors made the pump beyond cost-effective repair.
Dura Pump’s challenge was to supply and install the complete booster set in an overnight job whilst the building wasn’t in use.
The team at Dura Pump specified an energy efficient triple booster set with variable speed drives which provided the same duty as the existing pump set whilst using less energy. Aside from this, the customer also benefited from constant water pressure to the building.
Our solution was to move the new booster set into the plant room during the daytime and work out piping routes, as well as double checking we had all the parts needed.
On a separate night visit, we removed the old booster set and replaced it with a new unit, making all electrical and mechanical connections. This minimised the downtime meaning there was no disruption to the museum in day hours and minimal disruption to out-of-hours operations.
As a result of this successful project, the client experienced improved water supply and an upgraded booster set, providing years of life and reliability.
There was now no need for the museum to lose any income from closures or any bad experiences for its tourists as a good water pressure would be maintained at key times.
